A hair patch is a small hairpiece that covers one area of thinning or hair loss and blends into the hair you still have. If the rest of your hair is fine and only your temples, front hairline, crown or a small spot is thin, a patch is usually a better fit than a full hair system. This guide shows which patch matches which area, the sizes we stock, and when a custom patch is the better choice.
Two ways to get a patch
- Stock patch: choose a ready-made size from the table below. Several stock patches can also be ordered in a custom colour, and many offer a pre-cut service to trim the base to your size.
- Custom patch: made to your measurements for any area (temples, front hairline, crown, or a spot on the side or back), in the base, shape, colour, grey percentage, density, length and curl you choose. A specialist reviews every request and sends a quote; nothing is made or charged until you approve it. How custom patches work.

Patch or full hair system?
- Choose a patch when the thin area is limited and the hair around it is healthy enough to blend with. You keep your own hairstyle and only cover the gap.
- Choose a full hair system when the thinning runs across the top, or when the patch would need to be so large that it covers most of the top anyway. See men's hair systems.
- If your hair loss is still changing, a patch covers the area you have today; it does not slow further loss.
How to pick the size
- Measure the thin area at its widest and longest points, then choose the stock size that covers it with a little margin to blend into your own hair.
- If no stock size fits, several patches offer a pre-cut service: choose it before adding to cart and tell us the size and shape you need, and we cut the base for you.
- Step-by-step measuring help: Determining the size of your base.
Lace or skin?
- Thin skin (poly): easier to attach, clean and remove; a good starting point for temples, crown and side or back spots.
- Lace front: breathable and gives a softer hairline when you wear your hair up or back; it is more delicate and needs more careful handling.
- Lace with a poly back: a lace hairline at the front with a poly area behind it for tape or glue.

Attaching and blending
- Patches are attached with hair system tape or adhesive. Browse tape and adhesive.
- For crown and hairline patches, a local stylist who works with hair systems can cut and blend the patch into your own hair for the most natural-looking result.
- Match your colour with the Color Guide; several patches also offer a custom colour.
Custom hair patches
Choose a custom patch when no stock size or shape covers your area, when you need an exact colour or grey blend, or when you want to copy a piece you already wear.
What you can choose
- Size and shape: any outline, from a small temple or side spot to a full front-and-top piece. For a hairline: straight, rounded, widow's peak or softly receding corners.
- Base: French lace for the most natural front, lace with a thin-skin (PU) edge for easier taping, or thin skin all over.
- Colour and grey: your colour code, a hair sample or a daylight photo, plus the grey percentage if any.
- Density, length and curl: lighter density at the very front looks most natural; tell us the length and the wave or curl size, including Afro textures.
- How you will wear it: tape, glue or clips, and whether you want the knots at the front bleached.
What to send us
- Daylight photos of the area, with the size measured in inches or centimetres (width and depth). A photo with the outline drawn on helps.
- Or mail us a template or an old piece to copy using the pickup service.
- Not sure about some details? Send what you know and a specialist will suggest the rest.
Timeline and price
- Custom hairline pieces take 30–40 days to produce after you approve the quote, or about 3 weeks with the rush service. For other areas, we confirm the production time together with your quote.
- The price depends on size, base, hair type and length. You receive a quote first and pay only after you approve it.

Common questions
What is the best hair patch for receding temples?
For temples only, a temple patch sold in pairs lets you cover both sides while keeping your hairstyle. Our Temple Hair Patches are 3" × 2.5" on a thin skin, V-looped base; for very small gaps, the small temple pairs come in six sizes. If the recession runs across the whole front, a frontal hairpiece is usually a better fit than two separate patches.
Can a hair patch cover a bald spot at the crown?
Yes. The Crown Hair Patch comes in 4" × 4" and 5" × 5", and can be pre-cut to your size. It is attached with tape or adhesive and cut into your own hair.
Is there a hairline patch for women?
Yes. The Women's Frontal Hairpiece covers a high forehead or thin front hairline, in depths from 1.5 to 5 cm and 6" or 11.8" hair, and is supplied with double-sided tape.
Can I get a custom hair patch?
Yes. We make patches to your measurements for the temples, front hairline, crown or a spot on the side or back, in the base, colour, grey percentage, density and length you choose. A specialist confirms the details and the quote before anything is made. Custom hairline pieces take 30–40 days, or about 3 weeks with the rush service; for other areas the timeline is confirmed with your quote. See custom hair patches.
How long does a hair patch last?
It depends on the base, how it is attached and how it is cared for. For example, our thin-skin Side/Back patch lists a replacement period of 1–2 months. Ask us about a specific patch before ordering.
Are these patches made with human hair?
The temple, men's frontal and side/back patches use Indian Remy human hair, and the women's frontal hairpiece and Afro hairline pieces are human hair. Where a product page does not list the hair type, ask us before ordering.
